Norskprøve oral exam · A2–B1 and B1–B2

You understand Norwegian. Then the examiner asks one question — and it all disappears.

It isn't your Norwegian — no one trained you to speak it with a mic on, a timer running, and an examiner waiting.

So you practise out loud, again and again, until the gap between thinking it and saying it starts to close.

The Problem

Most language apps teach you Norwegian. Almost none get you speaking it out loud, with confidence.

The muntlig A2–B1 norskprøve isn't a vocab quiz — it's 20–25 minutes, taken in pairs, speaking about everyday themes: family, health, work, environment. You need to speak confidently about these themes under pressure — not just drill verb tables in isolation. So every part of MuntligB1 is built for exactly that: nothing random, nothing wasted.

Memorizing 2,000 random words doesn't help when the examiner asks about your family.

Reading drills don't prepare you to speak under time pressure.

MuntligB1 is built around the exam — and every minute is aimed at it.

If you can't yet form a basic sentence in Norwegian, start somewhere else — this is exam prep, not a beginner course.

1

See where you stand.

Take a quick written vocabulary & grammar check and get an honest read on your level — no signup needed.

Work through the 13 topics: build the words, shape the sentences, then speak your answers out loud and get feedback on each one.

3

Rehearse under exam conditions.

Run a timed, three-part mock in the real exam format — so exam day isn't the first time you feel it.

The question

«Hva gjør du på fritiden?»

What you said
På fritiden liker jeg å løpe og lese bøker. Jeg løper tre ganger i uka, vanligvis om morgenen. Jeg har begynt å lese norske bøker fordi jeg vil forbedre meg på norsk. Sist uke jeg leste en veldig interessant bok om norsk historie.

Your coaching

💡 You said Sist uke jeg leste — the natural order is Sist uke leste jeg. Norwegian is a V2 language: when a sentence opens with a time phrase, the verb must come before the subject.

💡 You said forbedre meg på norsk — the natural phrase is forbedre norsken min. «På norsk» means "in Norwegian" (the language you speak in), not the skill you're improving.

✅ Good use of fordi with correct word order, and har begynt is exactly right for something you started recently and are still doing.

A free companion

Even when the words are in there, they don't always come when the examiner is waiting. So it helps to keep the topics close between sessions —

The 13 topics, set to music — free on Spotify and Apple Music.

Put them on while you commute, cook, or walk, and the topics stay familiar between practice sessions. It's a bonus alongside your training — a way to keep Norwegian in your ear on the days you're not sitting down to practise — never a substitute for the real thing.
